Frequently asked questions and tips to make your event a great time for everyone (including you)
Running Sheet:
Have a running sheet of the events proceedings, like photos, announcements, awards, speeches or when meals are to be served etc. Even a small birthday party can benefit from this and for a wedding it is a must so that everyone knows what they are doing. Usually a MC will help you keep this moving.
Seating:
Have appropriate seating arrangements, put the younger rages closer to the band/dance floor and keep the people who don’t appreciate the loud music further from the band.
Lighting:
Lighting is very important to get the mood right so make sure you can dim the lights when you want people to get up and dance.
Band Access:
Make sure the band has access to the venue several hours before the first guests are due to arrive so there is plenty of time to set up. The band has some heavy equipment to unload so parking close to the venue is also required.
Venue:
When considering entertainment for your function make sure you venue is suitable for a live band and will allow loud live music. If the event is on private property you need to advise the neighbours.
Power:
To avoid power cutting out in the middle of your function make sure that the venue has an appropriate dedicated power supply available to the band. If there are lights involved 3 phase power may be required as well as for the PA.
People usually choose the function band because of “word of mouth” but it's best to see the band yourself or request a CD or go to a website.
Your event whether it’s a birthday party or a formal wedding takes a lot of planning and is very important to you. The make or break of any event is the entertainment, that’s what guests will remember. A great band that makes everyone get up and dance will give you and your guest’s great memories about the night for a long time to come.
The Music
Alias will provide the appropriate music for your function, this will be discussed with you before you book and tailored to your event. For example weddings generally require mellow music while meals are being served and guests want to be able to hear each other at the table.
Then, after the bridal waltz and perhaps speeches and cake cutting its time to party so Alias will pick up the pace and get every one dancing. This usually means that Alias will play between 3 & 5 approx 45 min sets depending on the event and timing, providing appropriate dinner and break music.
Birthdays are generally a big party once the music starts so Alias will play 45 min sets with break music to keep the party moving.
What ever your requirements are Alias will adapt their show to suit your needs.
Speeches
Whatever the event is there is usually a need for “speeches” at some point of the evening so Alias can provide a dedicated wireless microphone for this purpose.
Value For Money
Alias runs and provides its own PA system and lighting so we are very portable. We are self managed, with no middle man so can provide great value for money. Not to mention that we sound amazing.
Approachability
We take a great deal of time planning each function as if it was our own. We realize that each one is different and important to the person doing the organizing. So we take the time to sit down with you and plan the entertainment so you know what’s going on and when. This is also the time to let us know if there is that special song that you would like played.
Peace of Mind
We are a professional band and will not let you down. We will inspect the venue before the event to ensure that all is how it should be for us to set up and play without any problems.
